The hearse in front of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland carried Brigham Young
The hearse in question first appeared in front of the Mansion in 1995 after the ride was refurbished. It didn’t take long before people began saying that the hearse was the actual hearse used to carry the body of Brigham Young from his funeral to his burial place in 1877.
In an article appearing in the Deseret News, director of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Museum of Church History and Art, Glen M. Leonard, said historical records are conclusive that the hearse couldn’t possibly have been used for Young. In fact, no hearse was used. Brigham Young was carried by pall bearers from his funeral to burial place.
The truth is, nobody really knows where the Disneyland’s hearse came from, but do know that it was not used in Brigham Young’s funeral.
