Janet Reno's statement on cults defines Mormons

False

Janet RenoThe legend goes that on June 26, 1995, US Attorney General Janet Reno was on an episode of "60 Minutes" and gave her definition of a cultist. The quotation lists various factors of a cultist including a strong belief in the Bible, high level of giving to a Church, homeschooling of children, accumulating of survival foods, etc. She stated that anyone showing these qualifications should be viewed as a threat. Obviously, LDS members could see themselves in this definition.

The above story is completely false. Janet Reno did not make this statement and was not even on "60 Minutes" during 1991 – 1999. This quote has also not been attributed to anyone else.
